The bible says love your enemies, even the worst ones.
What if that worst enemy is yourself?
If you have read any of my other posts on related topics you have learned that I am a bit of a perfectionist. Especially when it comes to well, me, and I have Big tendencies towards anxiety and depression. There is a fine line between motivating and chastising yourself. If you go to far in a positive direction you become prideful and arrogant. When going to far in a negative direction you become anxious and depressed. Neither one of these directions are healthy. Staying centered is your best bet. That can prove to be harder then it appears. That is why it is so vitally important to have an impeccable support network, to help keep you centered. Surround yourself with friends and family that really care about you and will encourage you in a positive direction. I try hard to be that person for others because I know what that means to me. I tend to air on the side of negative myself, though there are times I can be found a little to far into the positive side. I’m telling you, when you get down and negative it really does take a miracle to bring you back up. Striving for perfection and never achieving it creates this perpetual cycle of death, or it feels that way at least. Loving myself has Never been my strong point. I rip myself down every day, some days worse then others. What I have found to help me in those times are the people I love and GOD. Those people really encourage and support me, and no I’m not just talking about compliments, but really feeling the sincere love that they have for me. I NEED that!
What does GOD say?
If you are a true bible believing person, you know the old adage of, love thy neighbor as yourself, and the scripture that goes along with this, Matthew 5:44, “But I say love your enemies”. I do believe that includes yourself. You are to be humble, but you are also called to love. GOD loves us. He cares and sees us for what we are striped down. He says he will always love us. I don’t know about you, but knowing that GOD loves me unconditionally is relieving. GOD will love me if I say the wrong thing, have too much drama, look the wrong way, act the wrong way, or anything that myself or anyone else rips me down for. He loves me. I TRUST IN THAT!
