God Brings Good Luck
Summary of chapter 8 questions: Does believing in God guarantee that for the rest of your life you will have good luck, or that good things will always happen to you? That your life will be cushy and easy? No where in the bible does it guarantee you anything. In fact, it states the opposite. As a believer your life will be hard and you will be ridiculed for that faith, but you will be rewarded some day as a result of that faith, whether that is here on earth or in eternity with God.
Again, as we go along in this book and it talks about all the spiritual myths, it becomes quite clear that the only guarantee that we are given, is the guarantee that if we believe in Jesus Christ and what he has done for us, we will be in eternity with him and God. In my walk with Christ I had always hoped for a better life, a cushy life, but never expected that my life was going to be all roses. In my life I have had many up’s and I have also had many down’s. I can say that when I am in the down times, especially the really down times, I question everything. I know that God is not some magic genie who when rubbed, will give me everything that I want, but I also know that God is a just and fair God and that He will only give me what I can handle. Lot’s of times I have felt like I could not handle what was thrown at me, but some how, some way, I mange to it make it through. Stronger then I was before I started those trials. Trust in God! He may not be that winning lottery ticket, but he gives you so much more. Eternal live is worth more then any amount of money that God could ever give you.
